Trust Yourself: Why inner awareness is the foundation of real confidence

There's certain moments in life that test us: maybe it’s a big decision or a difficult conversation. Perhaps it’s stepping on stage to perform or trying something new.

In that moment, your heart starts to beat a little faster, your body tightens, your mind races. Doubt might start to creep in. This is when you make a choice: to step back, or step up.

Our Trust Yourself campaign was born from this split second decision. We’re exploring a simple but powerful idea: that learning to listen to your body, your instincts and your inner signals is what allows you to move through life with confidence, even when the path ahead isn’t clear.

Because trusting yourself isn’t about being fearless, it’s feeling the fear, and moving anyway.

Stories of self-discovery

To bring this idea to life, we’ve partnered with three inspiring culture shapers: world-renowned yoga practitioner Eddie Stern, punk artist and rapper Ray Fuego, and scientist, author and podcaster Sarah-Ann Macklin.

Through this series of intimate films, they reflect on moments of growth and uncertainty, revealing the personal stories that led them to follow the path that felt right. Here’s three people that move through very different worlds, but their stories share a common truth: fail or succeed, you don’t need to know what will happen, just that you can handle it.

Aligning your butterflies

It’s usually the things in life that scare us most that make us feel the most alive. And what usually holds us back? Nerves.

There is a science behind feeling nervous. It is your nervous system switching on, releasing adrenaline, sharpening your senses, and preparing you to meet something that matters. To skim over the science, your body’s autonomic nervous system operates a bit like a car, most of the time is running steadily, this state of balance is called homeostasis. Sometimes though, you need to use the break (rest & digest), and sometimes the accelerator (fight or flight).  Your body pushes the accelerator when it feels it needs to meet a challenge. In these moments, you might feel flooded with a rush of nerves. This often feels like a warning, but it’s more like a signal - that your body is ready. Sometimes you just need to let those butterflies fly and try to focus your energy on propelling you forward, instead of throwing you off course.

Practice the pause

We know we’ve made that sound simpler than it is, it takes practice to control your nerves. That practice is called nervous system regulation. It teaches your body to respond instead of react.

NOWATCH is designed to support this. When your body spikes into a stress response, the watch will gently vibrate. This is your cue to check in with yourself: notice how you are feeling, and reflect on why. This little pause creates space between what you feel and how you react.

For times when your body is in a heightened state and needs extra support, the app includes a library of science-backed sessions. From breathwork to help slow your heart rate, to CBT exercises that guide you to reframe negative thoughts, these tools teach a valuable lesson: you have the ability to influence what is happening in your body and mind.

Trust in your own path

Our video series is a reminder that everyone’s path looks different. Health and wellbeing are personal, and what works for one person may not work for another. Chasing step counts, closing rings, or lowering a biometric score can feel empty if it does not actually bring you joy or energy, plus, it may not actually be what your body needs. What matters most, is paying attention to what makes you feel good, not what a device or anyone else tells you to do. Not everyone needs to run a marathon, a quick dance class that lifts your mood or a walk in the park are just as important activities if that’s what fills your cup. Confidence grows when you listen to yourself, not when you compare yourself to others.

NOWATCH takes this approach seriously. Instead of pushing you toward arbitrary targets, it helps you notice what works for both your body and your mind. Through tracking your body's vitals, like heart rate and HRV, alongside personal reflections on your mood, it helps you build a fuller picture of your health, beyond single metrics. Research has found that many people struggle to pinpoint exactly what they are feeling and to put those feelings into words. Our main mission is to help you build awareness, of what’s going on in your body and your mind and how they are linked. That’s when you can really trust yourself, to listen to those signals and respond with what you need.

Learn to listen

At NOWATCH, we always ask how your day went and how you slept before you even see the sleep summary. Why? Because your feelings matter just as much as the data.  A recent study has actually shown that how you felt you slept has a greater impact on your wellbeing than what sleep tracking technology tells you. Your ratings are also a really clear way to see how your habits affect your mood.

Perhaps you see that late-night workouts make it harder to fall asleep, or that a lunchtime walk or a call with a friend leaves you feeling energised for the rest of the afternoon. Our metrics go beyond physical health. They provide real-life proof from the source (you) of what keeps your mind healthy too.

The devil’s in the data

When it comes to our tracking, we never miss a beat (literally). Compared to trackers that measure periodically (e.g. every 15 minutes), NOWATCH continuously tracks your heart rate every second, giving our data ultimate precision and accuracy. It also allows us to build a minute-by-minute timeline of your day, showing exactly when your body reacted in certain ways and helping you understand how you operate. This timeline will also show you exactly when your stress response was activated with the Check-In’s work simultaneously like a mini diary - helping you pin point what you were doing, and why your body might be responding in this way. Comparing this with sleep and activity data can give you a really clear idea of how your habits affect your stress, and vice versa.

The more you get to know your body, the more you can trust that you’re doing exactly what you need to - so that it will show up for you when you need it most, and for the people you love.
